The actual course consists of five teaching days and one exam day. To meet the required self study time, there will always be a few days between block 1 and 2 and sometimes block 3.
What you will learn at Level 3
Unit 1
- The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling
- How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal
- still wines of the world
- sparkling wines of the world
- fortified wines of the world
- How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality
Unit 2
- How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
The focus of WSET Level 3 is even more than Level 2 on wine tasting.
The key here is to capture the taste of international wines in the student’s pallet in such a way that it becomes a calibration point in their wine taste memory.
To achieve this, no fewer than 54 international wines from around the world are tasted under the guidance of highly professional teachers with many years of tasting experience and at least WSET Level 4 diploma.
